Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Battery Controls Engineer to join the ERS team in Concord, NC. You will develop and optimize embedded controls software for the HV battery management system, implementing real-time control algorithms for protection, SOC, and SOH.

Collaboration with control strategy teams and cross-functional hardware groups is essential to deliver high-performance, reliable software for Formula 1 applications.

Qualifications

• Master's/PhD in EE, CS, or embedded systems, or a Bachelor's with 5+ years in embedded software.
• Experience in automotive or motorsport sectors.
• Expertise in battery management systems and control algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software for HV battery management systems.
• Implement sensor data acquisition, hardware abstraction layers, and real-time communication.
• Collaborate with controls and electrical hardware teams for cohesive operation.
• Conduct MiL/SiL/HiL testing and trackside testing support.
• Create requirements and unit tests to ensure robust, clean codebases.
• Adhere to safety and regulatory standards for high-performance motorsport.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to process improvements.
