GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks a Battery Controls Engineer to develop and optimize embedded software for the ERS team, focusing on battery protection, SOC and SOH within a demanding Formula 1 powertrain environment.

You will work on real-time control algorithms, hardware interfaces, and cross-functional collaboration, with a strong emphasis on MiL/SiL/HiL testing and rigorous verification.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related discipline; OR Bachelor's with 5+ years in embedded software development.
• Expertise in battery management systems and battery control algorithms (protection/derating, SOC, SOH).
• Strong C/C++ in embedded real-time environments; RTOS experience.
• Experience with CAN/CAN-FD, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART; MI and HiL testing.
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety is advantageous; FIA F1 regs advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software in C, C++ for HV battery management systems.
• Implement sensor data acquisition, HALs, RT communication, diagnostics features.
• Collaborate with controls and electrical hardware teams for cohesive operation.
• Perform MiL/SiL/HiL tests and trackside testing support; implement unit tests and requirements.
• Ensure compliance with software quality, safety standards and maintain documentation.
