Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Battery Controls Engineer to join the ERS team in Concord, NC. You will develop and optimize embedded software for the HV battery management system, implementing protection, SOC, and SOH algorithms.

You will collaborate with cross-functional controls and hardware teams, perform MiL/SiL/HiL verification, and contribute to rigorous quality standards for Formula 1 applications.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related discipline; OR Bachelor's with 5+ years in embedded software development.
• Expertise in battery management systems and battery control algorithms (protection/derating, SOC, SOH).
• Strong C/C++ programming for real-time embedded systems and HV battery hardware interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software for HV battery management systems and related components.
• Implement sensor data acquisition, HALs, real-time comms, and diagnostics.
• Ensure software quality with MiL/SiL/HiL, track testing, and documentation.
