Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC, is seeking a Battery Controls Engineer to join the ERS team onsite. You will develop and optimize embedded software for the HV battery management system, implement real-time control algorithms for protection, state of charge, and state of health, and support the entire ERS hardware/software ecosystem.

You will collaborate with controls and electrical hardware teams, conduct MiL/SiL/HiL testing, maintain documentation, and adhere to safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related discipline; OR Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Experience with battery management systems and battery control algorithms (protection/derating, SoC, SoH) is required.
• Familiarity with HV battery physics, high voltage bus networks, and safety concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software in C, C++, and RT languages for HV battery management systems and related components.
• Implement sensor data acquisition, HALs, real-time comms, and diagnostics features.
• Perform MiL/SiL/HiL testing and trackside validation with cross-functional teams.
• Create requirements and unit tests; ensure code quality and regulatory compliance.
• Document technical work and contribute to process improvements.
