Bank Healthcare Support Workers (HCSW)

University Hospitals Dorset is currently looking to onboard Bank Healthcare Support Workers (HCSW) with a willingness to upskill or have experience in supporting some of our patients with complex needs (Enhanced Care Skills) across our sites in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

  • A minimum of 6 months experience working as a Healthcare Support Worker in an acute hospital environment or 1 year Nursing/Care Home experience

Successful candidates will work as an effective member of the team under the supervision and direction of a registered health care professional, providing dignified, compassionate and safe care for patients, ensuring high standards of documentation are maintained.

These duties will vary from speciality to speciality and include Enhanced Therapeutic Observation Care such as baywatching a cohort of patients, 1:1 arm's length, falls risks, dementia, mental health support. In some cases, this could include working with children and young people right through to older people.

Successful candidates must be available to attend a Mandatory Induction Programme (terms & conditions apply) which consists of TWO FULL CONSECUTIVE WEEKS (Monday to Friday) plus up to 2 additional days of enhanced Care Training.

Interview is subject to successful completion of numeracy & literacy.

Interview Dates: 12th January 2026 All Day.
