Job description

We are a busy Emergency Department treating on average 50,000 patients a year. We are looking for a Band 7 Nurse Team Manager to work within the Accident and Emergency Department.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in delivering and monitoring the Quality Agenda in Emergency Care.
  • Ensure the delivery of a high‑quality nursing service in line with Local and National Guidelines within Emergency Care by reviewing and supporting staff development.
  • Facilitate learning and development opportunities for staff specific to Emergency Care.
  • Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to the staff team and a range of students from different professions.
  • Lead in areas of research and audit.
  • Operate innovatively to achieve a balance between service provision and staff development.
  • Operate autonomously, assess, diagnose, treat and discharge patients within scope of practice to maintain clinical expertise.
  • Coordinate the Emergency Department as required.
  • Support management of staff, including appraisals, rotas, recruitment and selection as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years post‑qualification experience with substantive experience at Band 6 in an Emergency Unit setting.
  • Post‑registration qualification is essential.
  • Advanced clinical knowledge and skills, and awareness of current professional, research and practice issues.
  • Understanding of modern human resource management.
  • Willingness to participate in research and audit projects and work with a certain amount of autonomy.
  • Strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and ability to develop and support staff with clinical and professional expertise.
