Band 2 – Supply Chain Distribution Officer

Location: Lister Hospital, Coreys Mill Lane, Stevenage.

Role Overview: The post holder will deliver goods to wards and departments, aiming to complete deliveries on the day of receipt whenever possible, and will unpack trolleys and pallets safely and place them appropriately.

  • Deliver goods to wards and departments, preferably on day of receipt.
  • Unpack trolleys and pallets in a safe manner and in a suitable location.
  • Marshal goods into the goods receiving area, safely unload pallets/roll cages/tote boxes, etc., from vehicles, and check and sign driver’s documentation when service requires or in the absence of the Goods Receiving Officer (GRO).
  • Obtain signature at all times from the recipient upon delivery of non-stock items, where required by GRO.
  • Respond to enquiries efficiently and act as a liaison between ward/department and other staff in the Supply Chain function.
  • Maintain high service levels for receipt and distribution of goods at all times.
  • Follow Trust moving and handling policies and procedures and work safely using all equipment with due care for oneself and others.
  • Collect and return empty roll cages/tote boxes from wards/departments to the goods receiving area or the NHS Supply Chain Distribution Centre.
  • Assist the materials management team with ward replenishment when required.
  • Ensure maximum security of goods, the receiving store, and all goods within their responsibility.
Job Details

Core hours: 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

Full training will be offered to the successful candidate.

Seasonal and site coverage may be required, including occasional travel to other Trust sites.
