Rise Technical Recruitment is seeking a Software Engineer in Bristol with PHP (Symfony/Laravel) and modern JavaScript (Vue/React). The role is hybrid, with one day in the office and the rest remote, and focuses on internal systems powering a fast-moving international trading business.

You'll join a small, profitable team delivering backend heavy features, API driven services, and a B2B portal. Expect ownership, pragmatic problem solving and close collaboration with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with PHP in a modern framework (Symfony or Laravel).
• Experience building and testing API-driven backend systems with unit and functional tests.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design and SOLID principles.
• Comfortable with modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue or React) as part of a full-stack workflow.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend-heavy features across internal systems for operations, reporting and B2B portal.
• Collaborate with Head of Development on solution design, architecture and technical direction.
• Write clean, testable PHP code using Symfony/Laravel with strong test coverage.
• Contribute to shared standards, code reviews, CI and deployment practices; incorporate AI tools into workflow.
• Work with business users to translate requirements into pragmatic, maintainable solutions.
