Job summary

LaraBench in Bristol is hiring a Software Engineer (PHP & JavaScript) for a hybrid role, typically in the office one day per week. You’ll build backend-heavy features powering internal systems, reporting and their B2B portal within a small, close-knit IT team.

The ideal candidate has strong PHP experience (Symfony or Laravel) and modern JavaScript skills (Vue or React), with collaboration across sales and operations to ship pragmatic, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with PHP in Symfony or Laravel within a business-critical environment.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design and maintainable system architecture.
• Experience building and testing API-driven backends with unit and functional tests.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend-heavy features across internal systems for operations, reporting and the B2B portal.
• Collaborate with the Head of Development to shape solution design and technical direction.
• Write clean, SOLID PHP and tests; participate in CI and deployment practices, including AI tool usage.
• Engage with business users to translate requirements into pragmatic, maintainable solutions.
