Job summary

LaraBench in Bristol is seeking a Software Engineer (PHP & JavaScript) to join a small, profitable B2B luxury fashion distribution business. Hybrid role: Bristol office one day a week, rest remote.

You will work on building and evolving internal systems at the heart of operations, reporting and a B2B customer portal, mainly backend PHP (Symfony/Laravel) and frontend JavaScript (Vue or React), collaborating with the Head of Development to deliver pragmatic, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial PHP experience in Symfony or Laravel in enterprise level environment.
• Solid object-oriented design and SOLID principles.
• Experience building and testing API-driven backend systems with unit/functional tests.
• Comfortable with Vue or React in a full-stack workflow.
• Enjoys ownership in a small, collaborative team and understanding business impact.
• Nice to have PostgreSQL, Dockerised apps, AWS and AI-assisted tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend heavy features across internal systems that support operations, reporting, analytics and the B2B portal
• Work closely with the Head of Development to shape solution design, architecture and technical direction
• Write clean, testable PHP using Symfony, with strong unit and functional test coverage
• Contribute to and improve shared standards, CI and deployment practices, including AI tools in the workflow
• Work with business users across sales and operations to translate requirements into pragmatic solutions
• Help evolve the platform and infrastructure using PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, Vue.js, AWS and Docker
