Overview

Automation Project Manager role near Telford. Salary: c£75k (dependent on experience) + benefits. Our client has been established for almost 20 years and are recognised as leading providers of all aspects of hardware and software design through to robot systems integration and commission on a range of bespoke automation solutions for supply to a diverse range of clients throughout the UK. They are now seeking to recruit an experienced Automation Project Manager to complement their highly successful Projects team based near Telford.

Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple automation projects with alignment to client lead times and standards; develop and secure sign‑off of Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and associated Controls layouts per FDS requirements.
  • Develop technical documents to client requirements using industry standard features, diagrams and language; maintain overall responsibility for project gateway sign‑off for the automation of the project, including FDS, electrical design, FAT, electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing.
  • Manage resources for each assigned project, ensuring materials are identified, within budget, ordered and delivered on site to the project schedule; create associated project documentation to satisfy CE/UKCA marking requirements.
  • Oversee the activities of fellow team members; ensure compliance with relevant H&S legislation; provide high‑level weekly project updates to the management team detailing key risks, opportunities and escalations as necessary.
  • Willingness to work away as required and to attend meetings at the Nottingham facility; undertake additional training where required and work autonomously or as part of the team, both on site and in the workshop; ensure all relevant Health and Safety legislation is adhered to.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in a logistics automation environment.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in electrical/PLC design and development, ideally from conveyor, robotics or automotive sectors.
  • Strong scheduling, prioritization, budgeting, task management and risk management skills.
