The newly created Strategy and Insights division at Sony Music Entertainment in the UK is responsible for driving actionable insights to the business through the lens of data. The team covers three key pillars, Strategy, Audience and Culture. The role works with Sony Music’s iconic labels – including Columbia, RCA, Commercial Group, Ministry of Sound, Relentless – to support best‑in‑class activations and amplify artist and brand stories to connect with a global audience.

This opportunity for the Audience Analyst sits within the Audience team, focuses on leveraging different data sources across DSPs, Social Media Platforms and First Party Data to generate actionable insights on how listeners consume content across platforms, and who those listeners are, with the goal to provide recommendations to help the labels build successful campaigns and maximize revenue and market share.

This role has a particular emphasis on Social Media Analytics where we are seeking someone who is passionate about understanding audiences using social data. You will be leading reporting on all social media activity (organic, earned and influencer) to benchmark campaigns and form recommendations. You will also be responsible for spotting and reporting on trends that evolve on social media.

What you'll do:
  • Social Media Analytics: Report and analyse social media activity to identify what drives engagement and provide campaign level reporting and recommendations, working closely with our Insight team.
  • Dashboard Development: Design, manage and automate dashboards or bespoke reporting solutions to guide decision makers and help identify opportunities while maintaining data integrity and report accuracy.
  • KPI Development: Help to define the metrics of success for social media marketing and ensure performance is tracked and democratised within the business.
  • Key liaison: working closely with our Digital & New Tech team, conducting analysis to help support their department.
  • Social media Trend Reporting: Being the first to spot and analyse trends on social media and report those back to the business in a timely manner.
Who you are:
  • You will already have some experience as an analyst, preferably within the entertainment or digital media sectors.
  • You live on Social Media platforms and have a deep understanding of how they work and engage audiences.
  • Music or social media industry experience preferred. Candidate expected to be knowledgeable about how the music business operates and about the evolving digital landscape.
  • Analytical mindset - ability to identify trends in large datasets, display creativity in problem‑solving, and generate new ideas.
  • A detail‑orientated, excellent communicator, and enthusiastic collaborator that works well with team members.
  • Strong data analysis abilities (e.g. familiarity with Excel v‑lookups, index match, pivot tables, and basic functions)
  • Experience in PowerPoint and experience with data analytics/visualization software (Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI etc.)
  • Confident in SQL, other data programming languages and have experience with relational databases.
  • Have knowledge of social media analytics tools such as Tubular or Brandwatch, and social listening tools.
  • Knowledge of all major social media platforms and up to date with social and digital trends and strategies.
  • Ability to work with technical teams to define business requirements for automated reporting systems.
  • Passion for music absolutely required and desire to build a career in the industry.
