As we continue to grow, we are looking for an Associate or Associate Director for the Hotel, Leisure & Entertainment market to join our London practice. As a As an Associate / Associate Director you will be part of an organisation that is 100-percent employee owned, that supports and creates many opportunities for you to advance, succeed and fulfil your career aspirations.

Primary Objective

As an MEP Associate / Associate Director you will have the opportunity to foster client relationships, support annual planning, to leading pursuits and oversight of project teams. These span a myriad of project types in the Hotel, Leisure & Entertainment Market Sector. Leading project teams in marketing and securing project wins is a focus of the position. A passion for client service and leveraging the full suite of HDR’s integrated service offerings to provide exceptional value to key clients is critical.

Responsibilities
Business development responsibilities include :
  • Develops and nurtures strong relationships with multiple clients, beginning with pre-positioning activities, continuing through the life of project execution and beyond for future work.
  • Maintains an active and visible presence in the Hotel, Leisure & Entertainment market sector, responsible for driving growth and sales.
  • Identifies new opportunities in the Hotel, Leisure & Entertainment market and leads strategy for development and execution of client and pursuit capture planning.
  • Collaborates with leadership team in strategic planning, alignment, and advancement of key market sector initiatives within the region.
Project responsibilities include :
  • Supports Area Managers, other Project Principals and Project Managers with the preparation, negotiation and award of project contracts.
  • Serves as Project Director or Project Principal as appropriate on projects.
  • Potential to provide leadership of concurrent projects and related multidisciplinary teams- planning, directing, coordinating, and monitoring all aspects of projects.
  • Provides client oversight throughout project execution, including conformance to client expectations for technical / quality, financial, and schedule performance.
  • Maintains client relations following completion of projects.
  • Partners with the production managers to maintain and strengthen core teams executing the work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 8 years experience working for a design consultancy in a Mechanical or Electrical capacity within the Hotel, Leisure & Entertainment sector
  • Proven track record of business development, relationship building, and operational results in the Hotel / hospitality market sector is essential.
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and / or project pursuits
  • Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams.
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area Managers
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years project management experience
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
