Qualifications

The Department of English, Communication, and Global Languages seeks an individual with an MA in Communication Studies for an Instructor appointment or a PhD in Communication Studies for an Assistant Professor position, with a commitment to undergraduate education. ABD with a definite completion date will be considered. The successful candidate will teach CMST 101 Fundamentals of Communication and contribute to the department’s core curriculum, including upper-level communication studies courses. University-level teaching experience is preferred. The ability to conduct research in the candidate’s area of expertise is expected. Area of specialization is open, though candidates with expertise in strategic event communication, digital media and communication platforms, and/or health communication are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

The applicant will:

  • Teach twelve credit hours per semester in introductory and upper-level Communication Studies courses, depending on expertise and departmental needs.
  • Contribute to developing interdisciplinary components within the Communication Studies curriculum.
  • Engage in research and scholarly activity, provide career advising, and foster connections with community organizations.
  • Maintain a strong campus presence, support student recruitment and retention efforts, and perform other duties as assigned (e.g., teaching First Year Seminar).
