Job summary

Randstad CPE in Bath seeks an enthusiastic Assistant Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations for one of our trusted clients. The role is based in Bath with occasional travel to sister sites for joint training and collaborative projects.

You will manage a small in-house team, maintain resident relations, and ensure health and safety compliance. The role is permanent, full-time, 37 hours weekly, with a competitive £34,000 salary and benefits including holidays and pension.

Responsibilities

• Direct and line-manage an in-house team of 9 tradespeople and 2 cleaners, handling daily task delegation and rota coverage.
• Maintain clear communication with residents to support their customer journey and promptly resolve inquiries.
• Oversee site health, safety, and compliance, conducting safety checks and upholding standards.
• Manage day-to-day maintenance and repairs, coordinating with third‑party subcontractors for larger works.
• Complete administrative duties, maintain tracking sheets, reports, and compliance records.
• Support emergency procedures and participate in the Duty Manager rota to ensure continuity.

Duties

• Direct and line-manage an in-house team of 9 tradespeople and 2 cleaners, taking responsibility for daily task delegation, team performance, and rota coverage.
• Maintain strong, clear communication with residents on a daily, face‑to‑face basis to support their customer journey and resolve day‑to‑day enquiries promptly.
• Oversee general site health, safety, and compliance, conducting regular safety checks and upholding key H&S standards across the property.
• Manage in‑house, day‑to‑day minor maintenance and repair tasks while coordinating with third‑party subcontractors for larger specialist works.
• Complete essential administrative duties, maintaining accurate tracking sheets, operational reporting, and compliance records.
• Support emergency response procedures and participate in the Duty Manager rota, maintaining operational continuity across the site.

Requirements

• Experience in operations, customer service, or property management with direct experience managing or supervising staff.
• Outstanding face‑to‑face communication skills and a confident, approachable manner when dealing with residents.
• A proactive, health‑and‑safety‑conscious mindset with a strong attention to operational compliance and record‑keeping.
• Practical capability and experience over formal qualifications: reliability, leadership, and drive are what count.
