Job summary

The Wishing Well in Kingswood, part of Greene King, is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead a lively family pub. You’ll support the General Manager, drive standards and help grow the business, while delivering exceptional guest experiences and managing day-to-day operations.

Ideal candidates will have hospitality leadership experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for food, drinks and creating welcoming environments for families and local communities.

Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager with day-to-day running of the pub.
• Lead the team in the GM's absence and take ownership of shifts.
• Coach and develop staff to maximise performance.

• Drive sales and opportunities across food, drinks and key trading occasions.
• Support with rotas, stock, cash management and other operational tasks.

What’s the opportunity?

As Assistant Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of The Wishing Well, supporting the General Manager and helping tolead the team, drive standards and grow the business.

You’ll:

• Support the General Manager with theday-to-day running of the pub.
• Take ownership of shifts and confidently lead the team in the GM's absence.
• Lead, coach and develop the team, helping people grow and perform at their best.
• Maintain consistently high standards acrossservice, food, drinks, cleanliness and customer experience.
• Help deliver an outstanding experience for families, regular customers and new visitors.
• Support the team to deliver consistently great carvery and food service.
• Help drive sales and maximise opportunities across food, drinks and key trading occasions.
• Make the most of busy weekends, school holidays and family-focused periods.
• Build strong relationships with customers and become a familiar face within the local community.
• Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and consistent service.
• Support with rotas, stock, cash management and other operational responsibilities.
• Champion health & safety, licensing and brand standards.
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for customers and colleagues.
• Create a positive team culture where people feel supported, valued and motivated.

What we’re looking for

• Has previous experience as anAssistant Manager, Supervisor, Team Leader or similar.
• Has experience working in a busy pub, restaurant, bar or high-volume hospitality environment.
• Is confident leading a team and taking ownership of a shift.
• Has strong communication skills and knows how to motivate and develop people.
• Takes genuine pride in delivering excellent customer service.
• Is commercially aware and understands how great hospitality can drive sales and repeat business.
