Job summary

The Wishing Well, part of Greene King, is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead from the front, energise the team and maximise opportunities in a busy family pub environment.

You'll support the General Manager, take ownership of shifts, coach staff and maintain high standards across service, food and guest experience.

Qualifications

• Previous Assistant Manager / Supervisor / Team Leader experience.
• Experience in busy pub, restaurant, bar or high-volume hospitality.
• Ability to lead a team and own a shift.
• Strong communication skills and ability to motivate and develop people.
• Pride in delivering excellent customer service.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of how hospitality drives sales and repeat business.
• Calm, organised and hands-on when busy.
• Enjoys working in a lively, family-focused environment.
• Passion for food, drinks and hospitality.

We're looking for an Assistant Manager who can lead from the front, bring energy to the team and help us make the most of every opportunity .

What's the opportunity?

As Assistant Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of The Wishing Well, supporting the General Manager and helping to lead the team, drive standards and grow the business .

• Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the pub .
• Take ownership of shifts and confidently lead the team in the GM's absence.
• Lead, coach and develop the team, helping people grow and perform at their best.
• Maintain consistently high standards across service, food, drinks, cleanliness and customer experience .
• Help deliver an outstanding experience for families, regular customers and new visitors.
• Support the team to deliver consistently great carvery and food service.
• Help drive sales and maximise opportunities across food, drinks and key trading occasions.
• Make the most of busy weekends, school holidays and family-focused periods.
• Build strong relationships with customers and become a familiar face within the local community.
• Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and consistent service.Support with rotas, stock, cash management and other operational responsibilities.
• Champion health & safety, licensing and brand standards.
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for customers and colleagues.
• Create a positive team culture where people feel supported, valued and motivated.
• Bring fresh ideas and energy to help grow the pub.
• Lead by example and get stuck in when things get busy.

• Has previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Team Leader or similar .
• Has experience working in a busy pub, restaurant, bar or high-volume hospitality environment.

• Has strong communication skills and knows how to motivate and develop people.
• Takes genuine pride in delivering excellent customer service.
• Is commercially aware and understands how great hospitality can drive sales and repeat business.
