Job summary

The Chain Locker, a historic inn on Falmouth's quayside, is seeking a hands-on Assistant Manager to lead a passionate team while supporting the General Manager. You will create a warm welcome for guests, monitor service quality, and drive improvements across Front and Back of House during peak times.

You will rely on your experience in a similar role, oversee cash and admin, and ensure health and safety standards are rigorously followed. This is a great step towards General Manager aspirations.

Qualifications

• Motivation and leadership experience in hospitality
• Guest-focused mindset and warm welcome
• Strong attention to detail and service standards
• Experience supporting a General Manager or senior leader
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations

Responsibilities

• Motivate and manage front-of-house and back-of-house teams during shifts
• Ensure guest experiences are consistently excellent
• Oversee service standards and daily operations in absence of the General Manager
• Support kitchen team and ensure quality food delivery
• Manage admin and cash handling tasks when GM is away
• Promote staff development and training
• Uphold health and safety compliance and procedures

The Chain Locker sits along Falmouth’s historic quayside. This 16th-century inn is a perfectly placed scenic hub that enjoys all this vibrant town has to offer.

Work overlooking the spectacular natural beauty of the Carrick Roads sailing waters and Falmouth’s harbour. The Chain Locker has golden beaches, tranquil creeks, and the buzz of the town on its doorstep.

This exciting role will see you work in an inspiring part of the world, motivating a team of passionate people while supporting and occasionally stepping in for the General Manager.

About You:

• Taking the helm when the General Manager is away, you motivate team members to deliver their best and ensure everything is running smoothly and efficiently.
• Creating a warm welcome to guests comes naturally to you, making every first impression count to ensure experiences delight from the get-go.
• Keeping a watchful eye over customer feedback means your team is always adapting to maintain high standards and improve where necessary.
• You go above and beyond to ensure a consistently high level of service, supporting the full team including Front and Back of House during peak times.
• You oversee the consistent production of a quality food offering and recognise the importance of the Kitchen Team.
• Having a wealth of experience in a similar role means you are able to recognise when team members need help and you’ll support where needed.
• A keen eye for detail means you keep all admin and cash management systems ticking along as they should, taking responsibility when the General Manager is away.
• You know health and safety regulations like the back of your hand.
• Team members see you as an inspiring role model and know they can depend on you for support and development.
• You take pride and responsibility for your own development, with an eye towards becoming a General Manager one day.
