Job summary

St Austell Brewery is seeking an Assistant Manager for Samuel Jones in Exeter. You will motivate a team of passionate people and support, and occasionally step in for, the General Manager to keep the pub delivering great experiences.

You'll oversee front and back of house during busy periods, ensure superb customer service, maintain health and safety standards, and drive a high-quality food offering while developing your leadership path toward GM. Excellent training awaits.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar hospitality management role.
• Strong leadership and team motivation skills.
• Excellent customer service and relationship building.
• Good admin and cash management capabilities.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Motivate and lead a hospitality team in the GM's absence.
• Ensure smooth daily operations and customer service.
• Welcome guests and create memorable first impressions.
• Monitor feedback and maintain high service standards.
• Oversee food offering and coordinate kitchen team.

About You:

• Taking the helm when the General Manager is away, you motivate team members to deliver their best and ensure everything is running smoothly and efficiently.
• Creating a warm welcome to guests comes naturally to you, making every first impression count to ensure experiences delight from the get-go.
• Keeping a watchful eye over customer feedback means your team is always adapting to maintain high standards and improve where necessary.
• You go above and beyond to ensure a consistently high level of service, supporting the full team including Front and Back of House during peak times.
• You oversee the consistent production of a quality food offering and recognise the importance of the Kitchen Team.
• Having a wealth of experience in a similar role means you are able to recognise when team members need help and you’ll support where needed.
• A keen eye for detail means you keep all admin and cash management systems ticking along as they should, taking responsibility when the General Manager is away.
• You know health and safety regulations like the back of your hand.
• Team members see you as an inspiring role model and know they can depend on you for support and development.
• You take pride and responsibility for your own development, with an eye towards becoming a General Manager one day.
