Talosats Careers is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Fountain Street, Belfast coffee shop. You will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, lead the team, manage stock, and deliver exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on barista experience, strong communication, and flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays in a full-time role.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a supervisory or management role in hospitality (coffee shop/cafe preferred).
• Hands-on barista skills: espresso brewing, milk steaming, latte art.
• Ability to lead, motivate and mentor a diverse team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; flexible hours incl. early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Lead baristas and staff during shifts, ensuring high standards of service and product quality.
• Train new hires on barista skills and shop policies.
• Assist manager with staff scheduling and peak-hour coverage.
• Oversee daily opening/closing procedures and store presentation.
• Monitor stock levels, place supplier orders, and conduct regular inventory counts.
• Ensure coffee machines and equipment are properly maintained.
• Uphold health, safety, and hygiene standards.
• Build relationships with customers and resolve complaints promptly.
• Support driving sales through promotions and knowledge of the menu.
• Assist with daily sales reporting and labour cost tracking.

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and highly motivatedAssistant Manager to join our team. Working closely with the Store Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of our coffee shop, driving team performance, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a love for coffee culture, excellent communication skills, and the ability to train staff and manage inventory effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Training

• Supervise Staff:Lead baristas and staff during shifts, ensuring high standards of customer service and product quality.
• Training & Development:Train new hires on barista skills, coffee preparation, POS systems, and shop policies.
• Motivate & Coach:Foster a positive work environment, providing ongoing feedback and coaching to team members.
• Scheduling:Assist the manager in creating staff schedules and ensuring adequate coverage, particularly during peak hours.

Operational Management

• Day-to-Day Operations:Manage daily opening/closing procedures and ensure the store is clean, well-presented, and fully operational.
• Inventory Management:Monitor stock levels, place supplier orders, and conduct regular inventory counts to minimize waste.
• Equipment Maintenance:Ensure coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment are maintained and serviced as needed.
• Safety Compliance:Uphold all health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Customer Service & Sales

• Customer Excellence:Build relationships with customers and resolve complaints or concerns promptly.
• Driving Sales:Implement marketing initiatives, promote special offers, and drive sales targets.
• Product Knowledge:Maintain expert knowledge of our coffee, tea, and food menu to make recommendations.

Financial & Administrative Tasks

• Cash Handling:Oversee cash management, till balancing, and daily bank deposits.
• Financial Reporting:Assist with reporting on daily sales and KPIs, helping to manage labour costs and expenses.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience:2+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role within the hospitality industry (coffee shop/cafe preferred).
• Barista Skills:Strong hands-on knowledge of espresso brewing, milk steaming, and latte art.
• Leadership:Proven capability to lead, motivate, and mentor a diverse team.
• Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility:Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
