Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion & SEMH

Position: Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion)

Salary: L9 – L13, depending on experience

Job Type: Full Time

We are seeking an experienced, committed and values-led Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion)to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is a key strategic role for a leader who believes passionately in inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the school’s strategic leadership through the effective oversight of whole-school inclusion, including line management and staff development. Central to the role is driving improved academic, social and emotional outcomes for students with SEND and SEMH needs. The post includes a small teaching commitment, enabling the post-holder to model excellent inclusive practice and remain closely connected to pupils and staff.

You will provide both strategic and operational leadership for:

  • Whole-school inclusion and SEND provision
  • EHCP processes, Annual Reviews and statutory compliance
  • SEMH provision, intervention and behaviour support
  • Acting as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), working closely with the Operational DSL
  • Designated Teacher responsibility for looked after and previously looked after children
  • Developing and embedding trauma-informed, adaptive practice across the school

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to school improvement planning, policy development and the creation of a culture where high expectations, care and belonging go hand in hand.
