About the Role

As an Assistant Head Teacher, you will strengthen whole-school systems, drive academic and behavioural standards, and maintain consistent routines that keep staff and pupils focused and accountable. You will support senior leadership with decisive action, clear communication, and structured operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Direction – Support the Headteacher in driving high standards, implementing policies, and maintaining strong routines.
  • Behaviour & Culture – Apply firm, consistent behaviour systems to ensure discipline, focus, and a productive school atmosphere.
  • Staff Development – Provide clear guidance, direct feedback, and strong role modelling for teaching and support staff.
  • Operational Oversight – Ensure smooth daily operations, efficient timetabling, and adherence to whole-school expectations.
  • Strategic Impact – Analyse performance data and help enforce improvement plans with precision and authority.
To Succeed as an Assistant Head Teacher
  • Proven leadership experience in SEN, SEMH, alternative provision, or structured educational settings.
  • A strong, controlled presence with confident decision-making and direct communication.
  • The ability to drive standards, manage behaviour systems, and lead teams with authority and clarity.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to act quickly under pressure.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply through us.
