Job description

A growing Lancaster organisation who are now seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to work closely with a dynamic and charismatic Head of Finance in this forward thinking business.

Previous management experience overseeing teams or junior members of staff is required, alongside solid knowledge of accounting systems and procedures.

Duties will include:

  • Managing the day to day running and operations of the Accounts department
  • Preparing the monthly management accounting pack, including variance analysis and commentaries
  • Maintaining and controlling balance sheets, ensuring balance sheet items are accounted for and reconciled - accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and adjustments
  • The production and presentation of Financial Board Pack and various KPI reporting
  • Cash flow forecasting, weekly cash monitoring and reporting
  • Production of financial forecast and sales budgets
  • Dealing with all HMRC items ensuring the company is compliant
  • Producing and submitting VAT returns and other monthly returns
  • Ensuring the efficient running of Sage accounting system
  • Preparation of year end audit file and working with auditors throughout process
  • Overseeing all company policies and procedures are followed and adhered to by the Accounting team

Candidate requirements:

  • Previous experience managing a team with excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and intermediate use of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to make decisions and work using own initiative and prioritise workloads
  • A proactive and positive approach to work
  • Previous experience of implementing new processes and use of Sage would be an advantage
