Assistant Finance Manager – Full-time – Permanent – Wadebridge – £32,000 to £35,000

Trial Balance Consulting are proud to be working exclusively with a well-established and expanding service provider based in Wadebridge. Known for their excellent reputation and broad regional reach, the business is now seeking to recruit anAssistant Finance Manager. This is a newly created role designed to support the Finance Manager in overseeing the finance department and ensuring smooth daily operations.

With on-the-job training and a clear pathway to step into the Finance Manager role in the near to mid-term, this position offers excellent progression and variety. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as senior finance lead in the absence of the Head of Finance
  • Supporting and overseeing the Finance Officer’s day-to-day duties
  • Preparing management accounts with insightful commentary and KPIs
  • Producing forecasts and managing budgets
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations, including prepayments and accruals
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Running monthly supplier payment cycles
  • Monitoring cashflow and income streams
  • Preparing VAT returns and managing HMRC submissions
  • Overseeing payroll preparation each month
  • Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets
  • Supporting the year-end process and liaising with external accountants
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar finance role
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

This role would suit an experienced Assistant Accountant ready for the next step, or a Management Accountant seeking a new challenge with a clear route to progression. Candidates who are available at short notice will be at a distinct advantage.
