Overview

Assistant Finance Manager based in the Newport area. Salary of up to £35,000 per annum plus benefits. Morwell Talent Solutions is partnering with a well-known Newport-based business, seeking an experienced Assistant Finance Manager to join its large and collaborative finance team. In this role, you\'ll work closely with the Director of Finance, Head of Finance and Finance Manager, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the department, while leading and motivating the General Ledger and Internal Control teams. You\'ll also play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency across multiple finance functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and support the Accounts Payable function, ensuring ledgers are accurate, reconciliations are completed, and supplier accounts are kept up to date.
  • Oversee the Accounts Receivable function, working to minimise risk exposure and ensure timely debt collection.
  • Oversee the Billing function, ensuring accurate and timely charging of revenues.
  • Oversee the Internal Control function, ensuring reconciliations and related reports are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Resolve issues with suppliers, auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain departmental training records and ensure quarterly goals are met.
  • Provide financial information and reports as required by senior management.
  • Lead and develop a team of 20 (including 5 supervisors), fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly strategic departmental meetings.
  • Promote staff development through regular feedback, coaching, and team-building sessions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators to ensure departmental objectives are met.
  • Support ad-hoc projects and duties as requested by the Finance Manager.
