Job summary

A Belfast-based telecoms service provider is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant / Accounts Technician to join their finance team. This varied role includes responsibilities such as managing purchase invoices, supporting sales ledger activities, and conducting bank reconciliations. Assistant Accountant / Accounts Technician

Belfast (BT1)

Salary c.£34K – £38K DOE

McKinty Associates are pleased to be working with Belfast based telecoms service provider who have a requirement for an experienced Assistant Accountant / Accounts Technician to join their team. This will be a varied role assisting with the day-to-day finance activities and reporting directly into the Financial Controller.

Main duties will include :
  • Purchase invoices / supplier payments
  • Support sales ledger activities, including raising invoices and credit control
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to resolve account queries
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Staff expenses
  • Assist in month-end and year-end procedures, including journal entries and accruals
  • Help prepare VAT returns
  • Financial reporting as required
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team and management
Eligibility criteria :
  • Professional accountancy qualification – Qualified Accounts Technician / Part Qualified Accountant
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes
  • Previous experience in a similar role (3 years or more)
  • Experience in accounts packages (Sage 200 desirable)
  • Excellent Excel skills (vlookups, sumif, pivot tables etc)
  • Experience of working on own initiative and as part of small team
  • High level of organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Excellent communicator and able to build relationships and rapport
