Overview

ASD Tutor

Location: West London

Hours: 20 hours a week: 4 hours a day (Monday-Friday)

Pay: 30-35 per hour

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate ASD tutor to support a 10-year-old autistic child with ASD, SEMH needs. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's life by creating a positive and responsive learning environment. You will be working two-to-one with the young person, primarily within an SEN setting based in West London. This role will require some planning and feedback to be delivered to parents and multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a differentiated curriculum working in core subjects

  • Build trust and emotional safety by attuning to the YP's pace and preferences

  • Use positive, non-directive methods to support learning and engagement

  • Focus on independent living skills and literacy

  • Respect and support the YP's independence while remaining available to step in before overwhelm

  • Identify and anticipate sensory and emotional triggers

  • Encourage initiation, allow time for processing, and offer flexible choices

  • Promote emotional regulation through calm and consistent presence

  • Use alternative communication techniques such as makaton/visual timetables/pictures and symbols

  • Be willing to accompany the YP to safe and familiar places that support well being and learning

Essential Qualities
  • Experience working with autistic children or children with complex SEN
  • Able to differentiate lessons based on the students needs
  • Experience working with students with SEMH is desired but not essential
  • Experience with AAC/Makaton/PECS
  • Flexibility

  • Travel to the home in West London
