Qualifications

  • Aged 16+.
  • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years.
  • Must not have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or above.
  • Must not be in any formal government-funded education at the start of apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to provide patient care in the maternity unit.
  • Complete departmental competency training with support.
  • Support parents with maintaining the baby’s hygiene and clean beds and cots.

Position Overview

14 Fixed Term Contract - Apprenticeship

Our NNUH Maternity team is looking to recruit an Apprentice working in our busy Maternity Unit.

We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship Standard qualification within the duration of the placement.

Role Responsibilities
  • As an Apprentice Midwifery Care Assistant, you will work with all members of the multidisciplinary team to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care.
  • You will provide care to our patients who are attending for care in the maternity setting.
  • With support from your line manager and the wider Midwifery team, you will complete departmental competency training to learn the necessary skills for the role – including documentation, patient care, supporting parents with maintaining the baby’s hygiene, cleaning and checking of beds and cots.
  • You will play a key role in the care of babies and support of the parents; you will be a valued member of the team in this rewarding specialty where no day is the same.
  • The maternity unit is fast paced and demanding; this post is perfect for someone who can work under pressure and thrives in a busy environment.
