Role Overview

We are looking for a competent IREF Lead Technician to lead diagnosis and repair of system malfunctions. The role is based in Scotland, predominantly within the Glasgow region. The successful candidate will serve as a subject expert, keeping customers informed on the nature of service, outstanding issues, recommending system enhancements/upsgrades and providing advice and training in system operations as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead diagnosis and repairs of system malfunctions.
  • Act as a subject expert, informing customers on service details, outstanding issues, and recommending system enhancements or upgrades.
  • Provide customer advice and training in system operations as required.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships, ensuring proactive feedback and documentation of equipment and system status, as well as completed work.
  • Provide technical coaching to less experienced service team members and coordinate on‑site activity for highly complex and multi‑person jobs, possibly overseeing subcontractors.
  • Carry out service and maintenance of complex refrigeration and air conditioning systems, controls, and related equipment.
Required Qualifications
  • Relevant qualifications in the specific trade (e.g., BAS/BNS, HVAC, Refrigeration).
  • Complex product knowledge and advanced system knowledge within Industrial Refrigeration.
  • Ammonia certification (essential).
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Experience with HFC, Ammonia, and CO₂ systems.
  • Experience with major manufacturers such as SABROE, Frick, York, Bitzer, and Howden.
  • Experience with DX, pumped, flooded, and multistage systems.
