Your work will go beyond models and drawings — it will play a part in creating places and solutions that make differences

As an Apprentice BIM Engineer, you will gain hands‑on experience using digital tools, 3D modelling and information management techniques to support real engineering and construction projects. With guidance from experienced BIM, engineering, and digital delivery professionals, you will:

  • Support the creation of accurate 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Revit.
  • Assist in setting up and managing project information within Common Data Environments (CDEs), following ISO 19650 principles.
  • Help with clash detection and coordination activities across multidisciplinary models.
  • Work alongside engineers to understand how technical designs are developed and checked.
  • Support the preparation of BIM documentation such as Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDPs) and/or modelling protocols.
  • Contribute to structured asset information using systems like Uniclass.
  • Assist in basic digital reporting, dashboards, and data‑driven tasks.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors in a supportive project environment.
  • Take part in training, workshops and learning activities to build your digital and technical capability.
Essential

To succeed in this apprenticeship, you will need:

  • A minimum of three A‑levels (including Maths) or their equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade 9‑6 (A‑C) or above including English Language and Maths
  • Interest in BIM, digital construction, engineering, or the built environment.
  • Basic awareness of Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, or similar digital modelling tools.
  • Good communication, organisation, and time‑management skills.
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and methodical approach to problem‑solving.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable

Although not required, it would be beneficial if you have:

  • Interest in automation, visual programming, AR/VR, reality capture, or digital twins.
  • Academic or project experience related to engineering, CAD, BIM, or construction.
  • A full UK driving licence.
