Job summary

Suffolk County Council is offering an apprenticeship as an Apprentice Administrator in Ipswich. You will join the Executive and Governance Hub and support Information Governance functions, including FOI requests, compliance guidance, and audit trails, while gaining a Level 3 Business Administration or Level 3 Data Protection apprenticeship.

The fixed-term role lasts up to 24 months with time allocated for off-the-job learning.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Suffolk County Council's Executive and Governance Hub as an Apprentice Administrator.

Your role and responsibilities

Working as part of a team you will:

  • provide coordination to Information Governance Statutory functions including Freedom of Information, Subject Access Requests and Security Incidents
  • provide information and guidance to colleagues regarding Information Governance Compliance
  • work as a key team member providing support and creating clear audit trails for colleagues to work together to meet statutory deadlines
  • support in development of training, communication and engagement on development to legislations across Information Governance areas, maintaining internal intranet sites.
Your apprenticeship:
  • Apprenticeship course name: Level 3 Business Administration or Level 3 Data Protection and Information Governance
  • Length of apprenticeship: up to 24 month duration

This position will support the completion of the apprenticeship through a provider and be mentored by team colleagues in the office. Time will be allowed within the working week to complete your 'off the job' learning.

You will need
  • Good and clear communication - You will be required to demonstrate good, clear verbal and written communication. You will need to be confident with dealing with a variety of people at different levels.
  • The ability to work as part of a team - You will show the ability to build positive relationships with team members, whilst being professional and polite. You will be respectful and considerate of other team members and their views.
  • A good understanding of IT and Microsoft packages - You will have a sound working knowledge of Microsoft packages, such as Word, Outlook and Excel. You will also be required to use Microsoft Teams, therefore knowledge of this or similar is desirable.

The Executive and Governance Hub is part of corporate services, working across Suffolk County Council directorates providing leadership and management of the 6 core pillars, Leadership Support, Communication and Engagement, Front line recruitment, Information Governance, Risk Management and Business Continuity.
