Job summary

Gloucestershire County Council is offering an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Level 2 Business Administration Apprentice located at Shire Hall. The apprenticeship runs for 12 months and provides on-the-job learning while you gain a Level 2 Business Administration qualification.

You will work in the Employment and Skills Hub, supporting learners and partners, developing essential office skills, data handling, customer service, IT systems, and professional working practices to prepare

  • Assist with data input, monitoring, and reporting processes.
  • Support outreach and engagement work within the community.
  • Ensure effective filing and document management systems are maintained.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and team objectives.

About Us

Our Education and Young People Service, within the Employment and Skills Hubs, play a vital role in supporting residents to access education, employment, and training opportunities.

We work in partnership with local employers, education providers, and community organisations to ensure individuals are supported to reach their full potential and contribute positively to their communities.

About the Role

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Level 2 Business Administrator Apprentice.

This role will give you the chance to gain valuable experience while working towards a Level 2 Business Administration qualification. You will contribute to the smooth running of the Employment and Skills Hubs, supporting a service that makes a real difference to people’s lives across Gloucestershire.

You will be part of a supportive team that values learning, development, and collaboration, helping you build the skills and confidence needed for a successful career.

The Administration Apprenticeship is a 12 month programmedesigned to support individuals entering employment while developing the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a successful career in administration.

The programme includes a 10 month structured training period,during which apprentices build core administrative skills through a combination of on the job learning and guided training. This is followed by an Apprenticeship Assessment period where apprentice showcase their learning to successfully achieve the apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship provides a strong entry route into employment, equipping apprentices with practical, workplace ready skills in areas such as communication, organisation, time management, customer service, IT systems and professional working practices that are transferle across sectors.

By the end of the programme, apprentices are well have developed the knowledge and experience to contribute effectively to an administrative role and progress into permanent role or onto further training and career development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

About You

We are looking for an individual who:

Qualifications
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
    or willingness to achieve Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Information

The council is not currently able to offer sponsorship in this role. Candidates will need to have right to work that enables them to commit to at least 6 months' employment. Right to work is not transferable from a sponsored role held with another employer.
