Job description
# LI-DNI

Team Overview: This position is with LaSalle Investment Managements Debt and Value-Add Strategies team (the Team), a specialist business which invests fund capital into real‑estate debt and value‑add equity investments across Europe. The team was set up in 2010 and has become one of the largest providers of alternative finance on commercial real‑estate in Europe.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will build an internal tool automating borrower reports. They will handle email attachments (borrower and investor reports in PDFs/Excel format), rename them, save to SharePoint, extract key loan metrics, store in a database with versioning and approvals, and create interactive dashboards. Working with a senior developer and investment professionals, this initiative replaces fragmented Excel‑based workflows with structured systems capable of supporting future capabilities such as predictive dashboards, AI integration, document intelligence, and internal knowledge management, materially improving data quality, structure and accessibility across the platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Automate extraction of PDF/Excel attachments from a shared Outlook inbox, rename files, and upload to SharePoint folders.
  • Extract key financials (revenue, debt ratios) using scripts and store them in a database; handle updates with team verification while preserving historical data.
  • Build simple approval workflows for data changes.
  • Create dashboards from the database that are easy to use for both technical and non‑tech users.
  • Test integrations and gather team feedback for improvements.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Python for automation, file parsing (e.g., pdfplumber for PDFs, pandas for Excels) and data extraction.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools: Outlook/SharePoint APIs (e.g., Graph API basics) and Power Automate for workflows.
  • Simple front‑end for dashboards (HTML/CSS/JS; Streamlit or Dash).
  • SQL basics for database connections (e.g., pyodbc) and queries.
  • Excel knowledge (pivots, formulas) to understand and automate workflows.
  • Git for version control; basic security such as user authentication and data logging.
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Energetic and self‑motivated with an ability to work independently and show initiative.
  • Willingness to automate away manual tasks.
Desirable Skills
  • Good understanding and interest in real‑estate investments and knowledge of debt investments.
  • Power BI for interactive visuals.
  • Databases such as PostgreSQL or Azure SQL.
  • Regex/NLP for smarter extraction.
  • Finance basics (e.g., real‑estate debt reports).
  • Docker for testing.
