AD Plant Operator – Fixed Term Contract

Alecto Recruitment is partnering with an established figure within the Anaerobic Digestion sector who are building a portfolio of Anaerobic Digestion facilities. My client is looking for an operator to cover a fixed-term contract, helping with day-to-day operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations of the Anaerobic Digestion plant, ensuring safe and efficient performance.
• Carry out process monitoring, including daily sampling and analysis (DM, FOS/TAC, Gas Quality).
• Operate and monitor the plant through the SCADA system, ensuring optimum running conditions.
• Run and maintain the straw processing line.
• Perform routine visual inspections and basic fault‑finding on plant equipment.
• Undertake first‑line maintenance tasks, such as isolating and replacing pumps.
• Feed and manage feedstock deliveries into hoppers and plant systems.
• Operate on‑site machinery, including telehandlers, 360 excavators, and other mobile plant.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised working environment.
• Provide out‑of‑hours alarm response and call‑out cover on a rota basis.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities and support positive site culture.

Skills & Qualifications

• Engineering qualification preferred (mechanical, electrical, or process).
• Valid telehandler and/or 360 excavator licence, with the ability to operate mobile plant confidently.
• WAMITAB, NEBOSH, or IOSH qualifications are desirable.
• Previous experience as an operator within a process, industrial, or energy environment.

Knowledge & Experience

• Experience within an Anaerobic Digestion facility is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
• Strong commitment to maintaining high standards of work, safety, and compliance.
• Takes full ownership of tasks and follows them through to completion.
