Job summary

A community support organization in Leeds seeks an Alcohol and Substance Worker to join the Focused Intervention Team. This permanent role involves working directly with clients facing drug and alcohol issues, delivering timely interventions, and promoting the service at public engagements. Ideal candidates will have experience in this area and possess strong engagement skills. The role does not offer visa sponsorship and requires a Disclosure and Barring Check before confirmation of appointment.

Job description
Overview

This role is permanent but subject to funding. The successful applicant will be an Alcohol and Substance Worker and a member of the Focused Intervention Team in the Forward Leeds drug and alcohol service.

Responsibilities
  • Work with service users who identify as having problems with drugs (predominantly non-opiates) and alcohol to deliver appropriate interventions in a time‑bound manner.
  • Promote the service and communicate advice and information to the general public through coordinated attendance at a wide range of city‑wide events, presentations to varied groups, one‑to‑one engagement, work within the night‑time economy and other public interactions.
  • Engage with members of the public in a one‑to‑one setting and manage a caseload of clients.

  • Experience working with people with issues surrounding alcohol and drugs.
  • Experience delivering effective interventions.
  • Approachable and able to engage with the public and clients.
  • Capability to handle a caseload of clients.
Trainee Programme

We are also accepting applications for Trainee Alcohol and Substance Worker (37‑hours per week, salary £25,392 - £25,687 pro rata).
