Job summary

A leading Defence and Aerospace company in Shawbury is seeking an Aircraft Fitter for a 6-month contract. You will provide engineering support, conduct inspections, and ensure aircraft safety. Ideal candidates will have completed an Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship and possess thorough knowledge of engine and airframe systems. The role offers £28.16 per hour inside IR35 along with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

Aircraft Fitter (Mechanical)

6 month contract. Based in Shawbury, Shrewsbury. Offering £28.16ph Inside IR35.

Have you completed an Aviation Apprenticeship or similar? Do you have experience working on Helicopters? Do you want to work with an industry‑leading company?

As the Aircraft Fitter, you will be working alongside a market‑leading Defence and Aerospace company who are constantly growing and developing. They are always looking to bring on new talents such as yourself and further develop your skills to enable you to grow within the company and industry.

Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering operational support to Flight Operations
  • Accomplishment of Maintenance inspections and repairs as directed by nominated Shift Supervisor or Certifying Engineer
  • Work to high standards to ensure continued safe operation of the aircraft
  • Completion of maintenance, including airframe structure, power plant, mechanical, and electrical systems in accordance with written instructions laid down by OEM
  • Conduct off‑aircraft mechanical, power plant, component, and composite technical work in workshops as required
  • Also required to assist in day‑to‑day running of the aircraft Hangar, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping responsibilities
Qualifications
  • Apprenticeship in Aircraft Maintenance or related discipline
  • Must have thorough knowledge of engine and airframe systems
  • Knowledge of specialised test equipment relating to engine and airframe systems
  • Knowledge of Flight/Airport Operations, Aircraft Line Maintenance, Aircraft Base Maintenance
  • Knowledge of UK Military Aviation and UK MFTS
  • Knowledge of CAA Part 145 and Part M regulations
  • Experience of Flight Operations and Line Maintenance
