Air Conditioning Engineer

Darlington + 3 Local Sites (within 10-mile radius)

Full-time, Permanent | £38,000 - £40,000 + Callout

We are seeking a skilled Air Conditioning Engineer to join our client's technical team on a large pharmaceutical site in the Darlington area. Working across up to three local facilities (all within a 10-mile radius), you'll be responsible for the maintenance, fault finding and repair of HVAC systems, ensuring a safe and compliant environment for critical operations.

A daily pool vehicle is provided for site travel.

Package & Benefits
  • Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 per annum
  • Hours: Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm (40 hrs, 1 hour unpaid lunch)
  • Callout: 1 in 4 rota
  • £150 standby
  • 4-hour minimum per call, paid at x1.5 or x2
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays

Role Overview

You’ll be delivering both planned and reactive HVAC maintenance, supporting heating/cooling services across a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. Strong diagnostic ability and a professional approach to compliance is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct PPM and reactive maintenance on AC systems (split units, VRV/VRF)
  • Perform mechanical fault finding and corrective repairs
  • Ensure safe handling and management of refrigerants
  • Carry out statutory and compliance checks for critical HVAC systems
  • Work collaboratively with onsite facilities and engineering teams
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and compliance reporting
  • Attend nearby sister sites if required (pool vehicle provided)
Experience & Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an Air Conditioning / HVAC Engineer
  • F-Gas Category 1 certification is essential
  • Experience with VRV/VRF, FCUs, AHUs, chillers desirable
  • Strong knowledge of building services and temperature control systems
  • Excellent fault-finding and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check
