Job description

AI Research Engineer – London (Onsite, Full-time)

Competitive Salary + Bonus

High-Performance Environment | Applied AI | Human + Machine Innovation

We’re working with a high-performing global investment firm that’s building out its internal AI platform — applying cutting‑edge large-language-model (LLM) technologies to real-world research and data challenges.

They’re now looking for an AI Research Engineer who can turn emerging AI ideas into working products. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role suited to someone who codes with intent, prototypes quickly, and loves exploring what’s next in the AI ecosystem.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, build, and maintain AI research infrastructure – custom LLM pipelines and tools.
  • Optimise LLM serving and inference for latency, reliability, and cost‑to‑intelligence.
  • Prototype new approaches using Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Copilot, or similar tools.
  • Work directly with data and research teams to deploy models into production.
  • Help shape the firm’s Human + Machine strategy, blending AI and human insight to drive performance.
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong Python skills and solid understanding of data manipulation.
  • Experience experimenting with or building on AI coding assistants / LLM tooling.
  • Portfolio of personal, academic, or open‑source projects that demonstrate creativity and curiosity.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • High‑performance mindset: proactive, organised, and eager to learn fast.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders alike.
Why Join
  • Be part of a small, elite team shaping next‑generation AI systems from the ground up.
  • Operate in a high‑performance culture where innovation and ownership are expected.
  • Work directly with decision‑makers — your ideas will be heard and implemented.
  • Competitive base salary + significant discretionary bonus.
  • Central London office, collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.
