Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Speech and Language Therapist to join our Speech and Language Therapy team at The Harley Street Clinic, currently rated “Outstanding” by the CQC. We provide a range of complex care services, specialising in oncology, cardiology and neuroscience. From maxillofacial and ENT surgeries, head and neck radiotherapy, proton beam therapy (PBT) and other pioneering techniques to treat cancer, our clinicians work together to provide the best possible care and treatments for our patients. This position offers exposure to a wide range of clinical presentations and the chance to develop advanced skills in a supportive environment.

As an experienced Speech and Language Therapist, ideally with a special interest in voice therapy, you will manage specialist outpatients and support the acute service in assessing and managing patients with communication and swallowing needs. The Harley Street Clinic service supports patients across HCA facilities in the W1 area including critical care units and wards, providing high-quality care at The Harley Street Clinic, as well Princess Grace Hospital, Leaders in Oncology Care (LOC) and the private HCA wards at UCLH.

You will work daily alongside a team of acute physiotherapists, dietitians, psychologists, occupational therapists, doctors and nurses as you provide expert Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention, educate staff and promote this service.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support patients with voice disorders and deliver voice therapy interventions
  • Provide communication assessment and intervention for inpatients and outpatients across designated sites.
  • Manage acute cases, including dysphagia and complex surgical patients including critical care.
  • Opportunity to develop skills in head and neck cancer rehabilitation, tracheostomy, videofluoroscopy, and FEES.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care planning.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to professional standards.
What you will bring
  • Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Registered member of HCPC
  • Post-qualification hospital experience
  • Experience or special interest in voice therapy
  • Competence in dysphagia assessment and management
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with experience of MDT working
  • Familiarity with videofluoroscopy and FEES procedures and interest developing full competency
