Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic dietitian to join our team at Croydon University Hospital.

The Nutrition and Dietetic Department is welcoming, supportive and always seeking ways to improve. We provide an integrated service across Croydon Health Services, which provides expert dietetic care to areas including gastroenterology, paediatrics and the community. Our team have strong working relationships with medical, nursing and AHP colleagues to provide safe and effective patient care.

You will be part of an acute team currently comprising of a band 7 acute lead dietitian, band 7 gastroenterology dietitian, a band 6 stroke dietitian, 2 band 5 dietitians and 2 dietetic assistants. The band 5 posts will include a caseload of general medical, endocrinology, respiratory, surgical and care of the elderly wards. The post holder will deliver a general outpatient clinic, deliver dietetic support to, run remote IBS sessions once a month.

Recently we also have added Croydon Tier 3 Weight management service to our existing dietetic service, consisting of dietitians, psychologist, physiotherapist and therapy practitioner.

Clinical supervision, monthly journal club, in service monthly CPD is well established and we take placement 1, 2 and 3 students.

Main duties of the job

As a band 5 dietitian, you would play a key role. The role will provide you the opportunity to provide Dietetic services in different areas, including medical and elderly wards and clinical areas of gastroenterology, renal, diabetes, cardiology, haematology, oncology, gynaecology and urology.

The post holder will also be involved in delivering group sessions including maternity healthy weight group and IBS.

The post holder will liaise, support, inform and work with the multidisciplinary team for elderly care, GPs, practice nurses, district nurses.

Integral to the role would be to formulate, deliver and review individual dietetic treatment plans for patients based on evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of a wide range of dietetic treatments.

The post holder would be encouraged and guided to maintain their portfolio by self directed learning, reflective practice and CPD sessions and opportunities.
