Job description

The Accounts Receivable Assistant will play a key role in supporting DP World’s financial operations, ensuring accurate billing, customer engagement, and compliance across invoicing processes. This is a fast-paced, collaborative environment, and the successful candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented contributor with strong communication and organisational skills.

Location: Essex, with occasional travel to the Southampton site (once per quarter)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

How you will contribute
  • Prepare, check, and send invoices and credit notes to customers daily and at month-end.

  • Ensure all billable items are captured on port sales invoices to shipping lines, rail companies, and hauliers.

  • Maintain accurate invoicing for rental and service charges to tenants.

  • Set up new customers in relevant systems and perform credit checks using web-based tools.

  • Collaborate with Operations and Commercial teams to resolve invoice queries.

  • Maintain audit-ready records including vessel logs and credit note tracking spreadsheets.

  • Support the Accounts Receivable Manager during periods of absence.

  • Assist the wider finance team during annual leave or sickness cover.

  • Ensure compliance with DP World’s Fatal Risk Standards and Health & Safety policies.

What you will bring

QUALIFICATIONS

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above) – Required.

  • AAT qualified or part-qualified – Desirable or willingness to study.

EXPERIENCE

  • Understanding of accounts procedures and billing systems.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Experience in customer service and working flexibly to meet business needs.
