We are seeking an experienced andmotivated midwife to join our Safeguarding Team as the Named Midwife forSafeguarding. This is a pivotal role ensuring the highest standards ofsafeguarding practice for women, children, and families.
As the Named Midwife forSafeguarding, you will:
Provide expert advice, training,supervision, and leadership to maternity staff to ensure vulnerable pregnantwomen, babies, and families receive high-quality, evidence-based protectionfrom harm.
Work closely with otherprofessionals and agencies to develop policies, monitor care, and ensurestatutory duties are met, with a particular focus on domestic abuse, substancemisuse, and complex needs. Act as a key safeguarding lead within maternity services,supporting staff in managing complex cases and promoting a Think Familyapproach.
You will be part of a supportivesafeguarding team committed to continuous improvement and innovation. This roleoffers opportunities for professional development and the chance to make a realdifference to the safety and wellbeing of families in our care.
Key Responsibilities include
Safeguarding LeadershipAct as the leadprofessional for safeguarding within maternity services, ensuring compliancewith statutory guidance, NHS England standards, and local safeguardingpolicies.
Expert Advice & SupportProvide specialistadvice to midwives and the wider multidisciplinary team on safeguardingconcerns, including child protection, domestic abuse, and vulnerable adults.
Multi-Agency CollaborationWork closely withsocial care, police, health visitors, and other agencies to promote a ThinkFamily approach.
Case ManagementParticipate in andcontribute to serious case reviews, domestic homicide reviews, and safeguardingaudits.
Training & DevelopmentDesign, deliver,and evaluate safeguarding training programmes for maternity staff.
SupervisionProvide safeguarding supervision tomidwives and other staff, supporting reflective practice and professionaldevelopment.
Policy & GovernanceAssist indeveloping and reviewing safeguarding policies, procedures, and guidelineswithin maternity services.
Data & ReportingMaintain accuratesafeguarding records and produce reports for internal governance and externalagencies as required.
Quality ImprovementLead on audits andquality improvement initiatives related to safeguarding, ensuring continuousimprovement in practice.
Escalation & Risk ManagementAct as the pointof escalation for complex safeguarding cases and ensure timely risk assessmentsand action planning.
