Job summary

This post is a 12 month fixed term/secondment opportunity. Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Operational Support Manager to join our Medicine Division. Working 37.5 hours per week, you will provide operational and administrative leadership for both our Cardiology and Respiratory services. You will be instrumental in supporting patient flow, performance targets, workforce planning, and the delivery of high‑quality outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide operational leadership and support across Cardiology and Respiratory services.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical leads, nursing teams and administrative staff.
  • Support service planning, capacity and demand management and delivery of performance targets.
  • Lead on day‑to‑day problem‑solving and escalation of service pressures.
  • Contribute to the implementation of quality and safety improvement programmes.
  • Support workforce planning and staff engagement within the services.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Graduate level qualification or equivalent NHS experience.
Desirable
  • Postgraduate Health or Management Diploma or willingness to work towards.
  • PRINCE2 qualification.
Knowledge and Awareness

  • Understanding of healthcare and social‑care management environment and roles and responsibilities within it.
