Job summary

Canterbury City Council is seeking a Central Control Room Operator for a dynamic, 24/7 hub in our modern city centre. You will manage communications, CCTV operations, and emergency responses from the control room, ensuring swift support to residents and services.

The role requires a current SIA CCTV Public Space Surveillance Licence or the ability to obtain it, plus DBS clearance. It offers benefits, a pro‑rata salary, and a pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, including listening and clear recording.
• Ability to accurately enter and retrieve information on electronic recording systems.
• Experience with policies and procedures in a controlled environment.
• Flexibility to work across shifts, including non-standard hours as required by a 24/7 control room.
• Able to work effectively as part of a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Support Lifeline telecare users and emergency services.
• Coordinate information with CCTV and out-of-hours services.
• Assist users of ANPR car parks and manage city centre access points.
• Work within security protocols and incident response procedures.
• Liaise with multiple agencies to resolve presenting problems.
