The programme offers dynamic rotations through at least five different underwriting departments, along with opportunities to gain exposure to other key teams across the business. This unique structure gives you a broad, hands‑on experience and the opportunity to develop a well‑rounded understanding of the industry, setting you up for long‑term success.

This full‑time graduate entry training programme is a 2.5‑year fixed‑term contract, and upon successful completion it is expected you will take up a permanent position in an underwriting department as a trainee underwriter, although other opportunities may also be available if better suited.

  • Develop a clear understanding of our underwriting products, and TMK’s risk appetites.
  • Shadow underwriters and gain an understanding of how broker relationships work.
  • Understand how Underwriters use data and models to drive decision making.
  • Develop an understanding of the technical underwriting principles and processes involved in specific lines of business. This includes the understanding of underwriting principles & practices, an understanding of the Lloyd’s market and the identification and assessment of risk.
  • Understand insurance policy terms and conditions.
  • Understand how other functions in TMK feed into our underwriting process.
  • Take part in learning and development opportunities as necessary to attain the skills and knowledge required to carry out specific tasks on each placement and in order to increase general insurance knowledge.
  • Build and foster internal and external stakeholder relationships across TMK and the wider industry.
  • You will be expected to start your own professional development journey, e.g. CII qualification, for which support will be provided.

The successful candidate will be a university graduate who is ready to join an ambitious, forward‑looking organisation that is committed to growing our underwriting capability.
