Job summary

An educational support organization is seeking a compassionate Tutor to work with a Year 2 student requiring alternative provision. The ideal candidate will have experience working in UK schools, particularly with learners with special educational needs. Responsibilities include planning engaging sessions, assessing progress, and building trusting relationships. Opportunities for both full-time and part-time positions are available, with a minimum commitment of 3 hours per week. Safeguarding training is essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Possess up-to-date Safeguarding Training or willingness to undertake this.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging sessions that meet the needs of students.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support.
  • Record attendance and report on student progress weekly.

Prospero Teaching are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and experienced Tutor to support a young person in Year 2 who requires alternative provision. This learner thrives in a 1:1 learning environment that is calm, encouraging, and nurturing. As a SEN Tutor, you will:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging sessions that meet the needs of students.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Record student progress and report on this weekly.
  • Be understanding, empathetic and patient.
  • Record attendance.
  • Be organised, dependable and creative.
  • Be calm, fair and adaptable.

About you:

  • Experience working with young people in UK schools
  • Background in SEN education or alternative provision - desirable but not essential
  • Confident delivering Maths and English
  • Empathetic, reliable, and calm under pressure
  • Able to build trusting relationships and foster a love of learning
  • Experience of working with young people with SEMH needs

Hours - 3 Hours per week- for the right candidate, this can be increased to full time by working with more than one young person.

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools - ESSENTIAL
  • Experience of working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs
