1:1 Teaching Assistant Required – Primary School in Mitcham (Year 1, SEND)

About the role

At Engage Education, we specialise in recruiting high-quality teaching assistants, and we’re currently looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Mitcham.

This role involves working closely with one pupil on a one-to-one basis, supporting both learning and pastoral needs throughout the school day. Experience with SEND is highly beneficial, particularly within a KS1 setting.

The school is supportive, well-organised, and experienced in working with external professionals and support staff to ensure pupils thrive.

Key responsibilities may include

• Providing 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil
• Supporting learning, engagement, and emotional regulation
• Assisting with classroom activities under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
• Implementing strategies and interventions to support SEND needs
• Ensuring the pupil remains safe, supported, and included throughout the school day

The ideal candidate will have

• Experience working with children in a primary school setting
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND (essentially beneficial for this role)
• A calm, patient, and consistent approach
• A genuine passion for supporting young children’s development
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred, not essential)
