Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is recruiting a dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school in Irlam, Greater Manchester. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, starting November 2026, to support a pupil with ASC.

You will help the pupil access learning, develop communication and social skills, build confidence, and work with the SENCO to tailor learning plans in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with Autism or other SEND.
• Previous experience in a school, childcare, or support-based setting.
• GCSEs in English and Maths required; TA/SEN training desirable.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support within the classroom and during wider school activities.
• Supporting engagement, participation and communication during lessons.
• Implementing individual learning strategies and support plans.
• Encouraging development of social skills, confidence and independence.
• Supporting emotional regulation and helping manage transitions throughout the day.
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt support.
• Promoting positive behaviour and celebrating achievements.
• Building a positive relationship with the pupil and family.
