Job summary

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a welcoming primary school in Salford to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting October 2026. The role involves providing individual support to a pupil with ASC, helping them access learning, develop social and communication skills, and thrive both academically and emotionally within the school environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to ensure consistent

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASC in educational, childcare, or care settings.
• Patience, empathy and a calm, positive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
• Genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
• Build a positive and trusting relationship that promotes confidence, engagement, and independence.
• Support the pupil in accessing classroom activities and adapting learning tasks where required.
• Implement tailored strategies and interventions to meet the pupil's individual needs.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to ensure consistent and effective support.
• Encourage the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and positive interactions with peers.
• Monitor progress and contribute to the review of support plans, targets, and interventions.
• Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where the pupil can thrive.
