The HVDC High Voltage Direct Current technology has been on the market for the past 60 years and is used among other things to transmit power over long distances & integrate renewables into the grid with minimal losses using overhead lines, underground, and submarine cable systems. The Mechanical Plant Design team (TPM) is part of engineering at HVDC with the mechanical responsibilities for our HVDC Projects on a global scale. Our responsibility stretches from the start-up of the project to being on site for installation. We support our internal and external partners with mechanical knowledge both within and outside of projects.

You are welcome to join our energetic team with a mix of experienced and young engineers and colleagues from diverse nationalities around the world. We work closely with design teams and collaborate with engineering and research teams in a global environment.

Your responsibilities

1. Demonstrate knowledge in advanced high-end CAD software to ensure CAD activities, 3D modeling in parts and assemblies, and 2D drafting for drawings and layouts are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
2. Be familiar with the design principles, guidelines, and applicable standards used within electromechanical plant design of HVDC stations both onshore and offshore.
3. Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures to perform station layout design, building requirements, inputs to civil designers, installation drawings, and detail design of steel support connectors, insulators, etc.
4. Provide technical support for installation and commissioning activities for the HVDC projects.
5. Prepare proposals/presentations of engineering projects/programs, provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.
6. Prepare project documentation and demonstrate effective interaction with customers, suppliers, and contractors to achieve your scope of deliveries.
7. Ensure adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks.

Your background

1. A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
2. Experience in 3D modeling and performing 2D drawings/layouts in software tools NX/TC.
3. A high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies.
4. A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
5. Some years of experience in substation engineering or similar.
6. Experience in substation engineering of High Voltage/Extra High Voltage substation projects.
